Love this reminder. Just today I was worried (imposter syndrome) of future criticism of my work. I mean it's not even public yet and I'm worried about the reception. I was given a lovely word of counsel: The best antidote for criticism (rejection) is humility. Creativity is an expression, not THE expression. Our creative acts simply add to the conversation. I really like that.

If you want to sell something, or "sell" your own personality, (not for money, just to be popular), then you have to be open to judgment. Otherwise, I see "comparing" as the downfall of the modern age.

With jobs, you need to compare with what the boss asked you to accomplish. With your private life, maybe you can take a break from that. I don't suggest shielding or living in a fortress, but you can be out in the wind, and still have your own self-definition, that can't be breached. It is not even armored, but just transparent to outside verdicts. They can't touch you.

Well, that's how I do it.
